Dr. Schneider is a native Cincinnatian who grew up in Harrison, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Cincinnati. He then attended The Ohio State University’s College of Dentistry where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.
Dr. Schneider then practiced as a general dentist for several years in Florida, opening his first dental practice in 2005. During that time he concentrated his studies on Endodontics and dental implants. He amassed nearly 200 hours of implant training and was recognized as a Fellow of International Congress of Oral Implantologist. During his Endodontic residency at the University of Michigan, he helped with the integration of surgical implant placement into the program’s curriculum. Dr. Schneider believes this training and his many years of experience as a general dentist are invaluable as they provide him with a solid foundation when deciding whether it is best to save a tooth with root canal therapy or to replace it with another treatment option.
In July of 2010 Dr. Schneider moved to Ann Arbor, MI to attend the University of Michigan’s Graduate Endodontic Residency Program, earning both a specialty Certificate in Endodontics and a Master of Science in Endodontics. During the 3 year program, he learned all current aspects of root canal treatment. He is proud to have studied under two world renowned lecturers and leaders in Endodontic surgery. The strength of the program’s surgical training allows him to provide a complete range of options for saving a patient’s tooth.
Dr. Schneider’s research and thesis were on the effect of a common Endodontic surgical filling material on adult stem cells that are responsible for growth of a tooth. The ultimate goal of this research is to one day be able to regenerate tooth structure instead of doing root canals! This original research has been accepted for publication by Journal of Endodontics, one of the most respected research publications in the field.
After completing his Endodontic Residency in 2013, Dr. Schneider returned home to the Cincinnati area to be near family. He received his Board Certification in 2016. This is a distinguished honor as only 25% of all endodontist are certified by the American Board of Endodontics. He maintains a clinical adjunct faculty position at the University of Michigan where he teaches in the Graduate Endodontic Clinic.
In his spare time he enjoys boating, fishing, amateur photography, and has recently returned to running. He is also a licensed private pilot.
